Spring is coming and it is time to think about gardens, especially electrical safety outdoors.
the electrical safety council has some good advise. As electricians we know what to do, lets hope our customers take our advice.

For every body out their.WELL WORTH A READ.VERY IMPORTANT.
The 17th Edition includes a new Part 7 (Special Locations), which includes new

EDF
Hello fellow electricians don't you just love EDF. A little story we fitted a new 17th edition consumer unit(fuse box if your not an electrician)any way we found a shared Main Head.Their was two main fuses on for the ground floor flat and one for the 1st floor flat in the same place sharing the neutral. In case your not sure were i am coming from if the residents in the ground floor flat were on holiday and the 1st floor main fuse blew the 1st floor resident would have no electricity until the ground floor resident came home.EDF have told us this not allowed and they will not do it.

Just a thought
Just a thought for the day.In today's economic climate. When things are looking grim remember failure is the opportunity to begin more intellectuality. The only way is up.
1970's wiring
We came across some unearthed lighting cable installed in the early 1970's.problem when certification. After installing a new consumer unit.R1+R2 a problem.R2 ok.RCD operation compromised.+ Lights up & down have to be on same side of board.Because of two way switching. No compromise in 17th edition Regs.would be better off if a 16th edition board was installed.what is your comment's.Interested hear them.
