The first amendment to the 17th Edition BS 7671:2008 Requirements for Electrical Installations

Things have moved on since I wrote this blog last year, for more up to date information please visit my new blog post about the 17th edition amendment 1 here:

It looks like the first amendment to BS 7671:2008 Requirements for Electrical Installations may be published on the 1st July 2011 and looks like it will come into force on the 1st January 2012, This does not come as a surprise to me, and I am sure other electricians will also not be surprised!

The IET prepares regulations for the safety of electrical installations for buildings, the IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) now having become the standard for the UK and many other countries.

The IET is now, and until the 6th of September 2010, allowing comments from "interested parties". The IET's Draft amendment incorporates many changes to the present BS 7671:2008 and most of the changes are shown in the IET's draft 17th edition amendment wiring regulations "Introduction To The Draft" download.

More information is available to read and download on the "Draft for Public Comment (DPC) - BS:7671/AMD 1" page of their website HERE

All comments must be received by the IET before 6 September 2010, and must be made on the official form which can be found in the IET's "instructions for providing comments" download.

Would also be great to hear from our readers on their thoughts on the 17th edition 1st amendment.
