Martin, The owner of the Dimart swa armoured cable stripping tool, SACS, kindly sent me his new product for quickly and easily stripping and preparing an armoured cable to try out. To be honest I was a little apprehensive at first as I thought that this is just another tool on the market along with others already there. I could not have been more wrong about this!
The first thing I felt when I picked up the tool was it is very easy to handle, very natural and comfortable. I feel it is about the right weight, it feels like it is light enough to work with and heavy enough that you feel that it is sturdy enough to do the job without breaking. I tried the tool on a 4mm 4 core swa. The first time I tried the tool it did the job perfectly but to be honest it did take me about 5 minutes. By the time I had my third go I had got the hang of it and I can now prepare my armoured cable in around 2 minutes, I am sure the more I use this tool the faster I will get.
There are loads of reasons I would use this tool in the future for all my armoured jobs but the main ones are, the way it feels when using the tool, the ease of use, and the way that it easily strips the outer sheath of the cable, basicly in my view it does exactly what it is made for, easily, quickly and accurately. As you can see I have uploaded a video from Dimart, SACS tool, showing the tool in use as I also felt that watching the video made it much easier for me to learn how to use the tool much quicker, although the tool does come with a really useful instruction sheet. (Video to be uploaded 12th May)

Hi Bluechip,
Thanks for your comments on the sacs stripping tool. With regards to the price if you visit the Dimart website you will find they have an online store where you can see the price and purchase the tool, also if keep your eyes peeled I am sure you will also see the tool in your nearest electrical wholesaler very soon!
With regards to the comparison you have mentioned, I know there are other tools similar to this on the market but I am not here to compare products as I feel that this would not be the right thing to do. I was more than happy to blog about this product as I truly felt that it is a good product & is worth sharing my thoughts with everyone.
Hope you visit the dimart website and purchase the tool. Please let me know how you get on with the tool.
