Electrician finds used syringe under floorboard

Submitted by lee001 on

This week our electricians where working in Manchester doing a house rewire, the property was empty with just the carpets down, they started lifting the carpets when one of the electricians noticed something in the grove of the floor boards when he had a closer look he realised it was a syringe, they stopped what they was doing and phone the office to notify us on what they had found, we called a needle & syringe removal team, who came out the same day to move it and check the rest of the property to make sure it was safe to carry on working. It just shows you how careful you have got to be, you never know what’s under the floorboards

Its rife around some parts of the city and I have come accross this situation on more than one occasion. Each time they've been rented accomodation for the lower end of the social scale, shall we say.

Anyhow, each time we've packed our gear up and left. After seeing just one needle, no matter how well we are told the property had been 'cleansed' , we take the view that there is still always the chance of coming a cropper with something that might of been missed.
Would rather still have a healthy life than the cash for a rewire. But you're right lee001, just shows that no matter where your are working, you have to be so carefull these days.

used syringes

have not come acros  needles in recent years, but some years ago when working for housing assosiation saw a wall full of needles, remember one prick of a needle and its hepertitas a slow miserable death.
