Scrapping of the HIPs may boost the property market!, but will it have a knock on effect for Electricians?

Many news articles and websites are saying that scrapping the home information pack may help boost the property market.
According to these reports, our coalition government have decided to scrap the home information packs, Although it seems not the energy efficiency report, which did not come as a surprise to me, as being energy efficient is something we all must follow. I ponder to myself, even though anything that can help the property market at the moment is a good thing, Is this going to have a knock on effect to other markets?

I have created a POLL on the MyLocalElectrician website asking electricians if they feel that scrapping the HIPs ( Home information packs ) will create less work for electricians? being that there will be less Periodic inspection reports being carried out.

A Periodic Inspection Report (PIR) is an electrical test carried out on a domestic property to establish if the electrical installation is satisfactory. This type of test is recommended to be carried out every ten years on a standard domestic property, more frequently if being rented etc., but unfortunately there has never been much public awareness to help promote this to home owners and subsequently this ten year periodic inspection report on domestic properties only seem to be carried out when;

1) The home owner is aware of this / is concerned about their electrics
2) A mortgage lender insists on one, and
3) Because of the HIPs when selling their home

Lets hope that home owners will still be given this ten year electrical inspection advise. Maybe our new government can liaise with the banks and other financial institutions when mortgages are approved, to create some sort of information pack covering what I have outlined above.
