I wondered if there is anything in the Regulations to prevent me having the Shower Isolation Switch in the Meter Cupboard next to the CU.
I realise if it is in the bathroom it has to be a pull switch, but I wondered if it can be away from the Shower?

Assuming it is a normal sized domestic installation. It can be installed in the meter cupboard, there is nothing that says it cannot.
Just an extra note. If you are having electrical work done it may need to be carried out by a Part P registered installer as it may be against the law for a non Part P registered installer to carry out the works.
Also you will more than likely find that you need to R.C.D. protect the circuit due to the regulations and manuractures instructions. If the circuit is not R.C.D.

What's normal? a 1 bed flat or a 10 bed mansion? What about local means of isolation?
Well clearly normal is not a 10 bed mansion. I would say I live in a normal house and that is a 3 bed semi, if you call a 10 bed mansion normal you must be a lucky person to live in such a grand place.
As for the local means of isolation. As I am sure you are aware R.C.D. unit are double pole and they can be locked off, so there is the isolation. As for the local, in my normal house it is a 2 second walk from my bathroom to where my consumer unit is located, I would personally call that local.
