The Electrical Safety Council (ESC) is an independent charity committed to reducing deaths and injuries through electrical accidents at home and at work.

The Council's remit is reflected in its mission, which is:

To reduce electrical accidents and injuries
The Electrical Safety Council intends to fulfill its mission through activities, collaborations and partnerships so that consumers' needs on issues of electrical safety are given the appropriate priority.

Its key objectives are:

•Operate a watching brief for consumers, which will include participation in developing standards and awards for excellence.
•Run niche campaigns in particular areas of electrical safety
•Working with the electrical industry to:
•Promote the use of competent person schemes
•Help consumers to understand regulations and requirements
•Endeavour to ensure an effective service is provided by electrical installers
•Identify and promote best practice in the industry on behalf of consumers
•Represent the interest of consumers on relevant national and international committees

The Electrical Safety Council has wide support from the electrical industry, professional bodies and consumer groups and consists of representatives from 75 bodies including Public Electricity Distributors, the Institution of Engineering and Technology, the Consumers' Association, the Electrical Contractors' Association, trade unions and many other notable organisations which have an interest in electrical safety.

Who are the electrical safety council? When i googled this question i found a forum where someone said it was the niceic. Is this correct?
