The aim of this course is to provide delegates with an awareness of the main alterations and additions incorporated in BS 7671:2008.
Objective:

The aim of this course is to provide delegates with an awareness of the main alterations and additions incorporated in BS 7671:2008. Please note that the lists under each outcome are not exhaustive lists. Where a topic is listed, only those parts of that topic that have changed will be taught and assessed. This course aims to update delegates on the significant differences between the 16th and 17th editions. It will, therefore, focus on the main additions and alterations that have been incorporated in the 2008 (17th) edition.
It is primarily aimed at practising electricians and other allied professionals e.g. electrical engineers, contracts managers, designers, consultants, surveyors, and other related trades with a good working knowledge of BS 7671, who have already achieved the City & Guilds Certificate in the requirements for electrical installations (BS 7671: 2001) (2381) or recognized equivalent. It is intended to ensure that they are conversant with the format, content and the application of the current edition of the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671: 2008 (17th edition). It should be noted that limited instruction will be provided on existing requirements and electrical science.

Approach to the Course and Assessment:

This unit will be assessed by a multiple choice online test covering the underpinning knowledge relating to the content and application of BS 7671
Course Content:

There are eight units making up the course relating to Parts 1-7 and the Appendices of BS 7671:2008:

* Scope, object and fundamental principles
* Definitions
* Assessment of general characteristics
* Protection for safety
* Selection and erection of equipment
* Inspection and testing
* Special installations or locations
* Appendices

1 Day + GOLA (Global Online Assessment)

NICEIC Registered Contractors: £175 + VAT, Exam Fee: £50 + VAT
Public: £195 + VAT, Exam Fee: £50 + VAT
Entry Requirements:

It is expected that candidates must have achieved one of the following qualifications which addresses the requirements for BS 7671 in order to be allowed to enter this qualification.

* City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671: June 2001 (2381), or
* City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology Installation (Building and Structures) (2330-07), or
* City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology Electrical Maintenance (2330-08), or
* City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Electrical Installation Part Two (2360) (from January 1st 2004 onwards only)
